As utilities explore how to manage the demand growth from electric vehicle (EV) charging, many are realizing that EVs are a blind spot. They’re not sure where the EVs are on their grids, much less their impact on grid resilience. This session will explore how utilities are going beyond “managed charging” to build a holistic approach to EV management—one that includes EV detection, grid impact and planning tools, and a variety of load management options.

Learning Objectives include:

  • How AI is enhancing the detection of EVs and their impact on specific grid assets.
  • How in-depth analysis of charging patterns (charger type, time, duration, intensity) can help utilities optimize managed charging programs and target customer outreach for greatest load-shift value.
  • Lessons learned and real-world EV load-shift outcomes realized by utilities.
