Communication Networks , AMI

Imagine gaining access to a robust, secure AMI network without the need to invest in building out the communications infrastructure. Join CPS Energy, the nation’s largest municipally owned energy company and San Antonio Water System (SAWS) for a case study and lessons learned in their innovative partnership to implement one of the largest water AMI projects in North America – through a shared electric AMI network canopy.

With a robust multi-purpose network in place, CPS looked for other opportunities to leverage these existing investments to extend more benefits throughout the community. Hear how CPS and SAWS are working together to support sustainability initiatives, streamline operations, and improve the quality of life for San Antonio’s 1.5 million residents.

Presenters will discuss the evolution of the strategic partnership, including understanding the technical and business process challenges of CPS as the network-as-a-service provider, navigating change management, stakeholder engagement, data security, and more. You will also learn about successful models for a host utility to offer network access and managed services, opening a practical and affordable pathway to AMI for communities large and small.
