Bulk Power

For the first time, the bulk power system is dependent on movements at the distribution level, a seismic shift for traditional power dynamics. All new for DISTRIBUTECH® 2025, the Bulk Power topic will explore the regulatory, operational, and market dependencies across these blurring boundaries.

The line separating the distribution and transmission grids is growing thinner by the day, due in part because of regulatory change, resource decentralization, and system reliability impacts. While the bulk power system has historically been known as a network of power plans, transmission lines, and control systems delivering electricity across regions, the energy transition requires a more integrated approach: one that recognizes the interplay between retail, distribution, and transmission operations.
