Alex Nassif

 Alex Nassif has been practicing engineering for over 23 years. He specializes in DER integration, microgrid planning, power system protection and control, and power quality. Alex joined PNNL in June 2024 as a Senior Power Systems Research Engineer. Formerly, he was the manager of technology innovation and LUMA Energy overseeing integration and deployment of various innovative technologies in T&D. Before joining LUMA, he worked for ATCO in Alberta, Canada, and led technical studies in the deployment of DERs and microgrids, and for Hydro One, Ontario, Canada, where he worked in protection systems and special studies. While at Hydro One, he was also a postdoctoral fellow at Ryerson university. Alex is a Senior Member of IEEE, a Senior Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery, and an Associated Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Power Systems. He was the general chair of the 2023 PES ISGT-LA. He holds a PhD from the University of Alberta, Canada.
