Asma AlShamsi is a civil engineer with nearly 20 years of experience at Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA). She earned her bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Sharjah in 2005 and joined DEWA the same year, working within the Transmission and Distribution Projects and Engineering Division.   Her technical expertise and leadership led to her promotion as Unit Head of Structural Design. She then moved to site supervision roles, managing the construction of transmission substations and power cable installations. In 2012, Asma joined the Transmission Maintenance Department as Manager and was promoted to Senior Manager in 2016, overseeing Civil and Electromechanical maintenance of Transmission Substations across Dubai.   In 2024, Asma became Acting Vice President of Transmission Line and Civil - Maintenance and Commissioning. She leads 526 employees in maintaining, testing, and commissioning power substations and cables. Her team ensures operational readiness by managing overhead lines, underground cables, and fire protection systems, as well as conducting patrolling, site supervision, and commissioning activities.   Asma's career is marked by continuous growth. She completed the Mohammed Bin Rashid Leadership Program in 2016 and has led initiatives at DEWA focusing on operational optimization, sustainability, circular economy practices, and strategic proposal development. Her focus on engineering excellence and sustainable infrastructure has made her a crucial leader at DEWA. Asma excels in leading teams, aligning operations with goals, and maintaining critical assets efficiently.
