Dr. Liuxi (Calvin) Zhang is a distinguished leader in decarbonization, smart grid, and renewable energy, with a rich background in research, innovation, and technology management. As Eaton’s Global Technology Director, he heads the international R&D team across the US, Asia, and Europe. Previously, at ComEd, he spearheaded smart grid strategy, managing projects like the Bronzeville Community Microgrid, and earned multiple industry awards. At Nexant, he led the distribution systems analytics team, focusing on smart grid analytics. An IEEE Senior Member, Dr. Zhang contributes to IEEE PES Technical Committees and is a recognized speaker at IEEE events. Holding a Ph.D. from Northeastern University and degrees from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, he has received IEEE accolades for his contributions. He is an IEEE PES Governing Board Member at large for Digital Experience since 2024 and served as the co-chair of the inaugural IEEE Grid Edge Technology Conference & Exposition in 2023.
