Jason Shea is a Senior OT Cybersecurity Manager responsible for Grid Security at Southern California Edison (SCE). With over 25 years of utility experience, he focuses on securing critical infrastructure within SCE’s environment and the utility sector. Jason and his team rely on strong collaborative partnerships across diverse teams and resources to solve complex security challenges as they interconnect the electric grid in innovative ways. As the leader of the OT Security Program at SCE, Jason oversees several supporting work efforts, including Architecture, Engineering, Monitoring & Response, Risk, Automation, Vulnerability Management, Asset Management, and Security Tooling. He is a highly motivated OT security leader, experienced in developing teams and creating secure-by-design OT cybersecurity strategies. His work emphasizes enforcing strong security practices, managing risk, and continuous improvement to enhance the safety, resiliency, reliability, and security of the electric grid. During his tenure at SCE, Jason has led the Cybersecurity Operations Center (CSOC), Cybersecurity Architecture and Engineering, Digital Forensics and Incident Response (DFIR), and Threat Intelligence teams. He actively collaborates with various federal agencies and national labs to collectively secure the nation’s critical infrastructure. In his current role, he manages a team of OT cybersecurity subject matter experts focused on integrating secure-by-design strategies to improve the security posture of emerging grid technologies. This includes incorporating threat intelligence to secure solution designs for existing asset areas, from grid edge devices to core grid management systems, to quantify risks and associated compensating controls.
