Matthew Mills
Matthew Mills is a Technical Program Manager on Portland General Electric's (PGE) Smart Grid Test Bed, an innovative team tasked with studying the viability of various flexible load resources available to the utility. Matthew primarily oversees the Test Bed EV Charging Study, a managed charging program leveraging vehicle telematics to optimize charging in accordance with the distribution system needs alongside customer charging preferences. Additionally, Matthew oversees multiple other studies exploring the distribution system benefits available via pretty much any other technology that is installed but not yet leveraged to its fullest extent by the utility (e.g., smart inverters, V2X, energy storage, heat pump water heaters, smart thermostats, and more).
Located in Portland, Oregon, Matthew holds a B.S. in Environmental Science from UC Santa Barbara, and has recently completed his M.S. in Civil Engineering: Energy Infrastructure from University of Washington.
