Michael Jensen is a Principal Protection Engineer with Pacific Gas and Electric Company, he has a BSEE from California Polytechnic University San Luis Obispo, is a licensed Professional Engineer in California.  Has 30 years of Engineering experience which included several years at Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant as a Design Engineer, Substation Engineer, and 25 years of protection experience, including 11 years as the Supervisor of the PG&E Southern System Protection Group.  He is a PG&E Protection Lead for generator interconnection projects and interconnection requirements on the transmission and distribution system, assisting with microgrid studies and installations. Includes performing or overseeing initial scoping, feasibility studies, generation modeling and system protection impacts of all transmission interconnections, reviewing interconnection locations and protection requirements for each transmission interconnection.  Member of various IEEE Standard Working Groups associated with generation interconnections and inverter-based generation the latest being IEEE 2800-2022.  Served 6 years in the US Navy - as a Nuclear Propulsion Electrician, onboard a fast attack nuclear submarine.
