Nico Payne is an experienced engineer with a background in power quality and electric engineering. Currently, Nico serves as a Senior Engineer at San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E), where her has played a crucial role in advancing the company’s Early Fault Detection (EFD) initiatives. With extensive experience in System Protection, Wildfire Mitigation, and Power Quality groups, Nico possesses a comprehensive understanding of the distribution system challenges of a modern utility. In addition to his engineering expertise, Nico has represented SDG&E at prominent industry conferences. In 2023, he presented at the CEATI T&D Conference, showcasing innovative approaches in Early Fault Detection. Nico also shared his insights at the 2023 DISTRIBUTECH International conference, highlighting the use of time-series data and machine learning in managing electric distribution network assets.
