Scott Thomsen is the director of communications and public affairs for the Ventura County (Calif.) Fire Department. He has extensive experience in journalism, communications, emergency response and supporting the development of technology to enhance the effectiveness of those fields. Prior to joining the fire department, Scott served as the director of communications at Seattle City Light. He has participated in the response to Washington’s deadliest natural disaster, wildfires and numerous storms. Scott is a past president of the National Association of Government Communicators.
